| Problem and Solution
The reputation of the financial services industry has been damaged recently. In an attempt to restore confidence, the SEC and other government agencies are generating rules and regulations at a rapid pace, which puts extra strain on the compliance department. Outsourcing some compliance tasks to qualified professionals can be an effective method of dealing with the problem.
Philosophy
Proper compliance can protect a firm's reputation, reduce complaints, and prevent enforcement actions. However, balancing the needs of the client, the sales force and the regulators is the challenge facing a compliance department. How will the rep follow the procedure? How will it affect sales? Will the customer be protected? Assistance from a third party vendor who understands both sales and compliance can provide important insight to this process.
